Frequently asked questions
What does Sift actually do?▼
Sift scans your camera roll and contacts on your iPhone and sorts them into work, personal, and clutter. It rescues the photos that matter into protected albums, finds duplicates and blurry shots, and lets you clear the rest. Every change is reversible for 30 days.
Does Sift send my photos anywhere?▼
No. Sift has no internet permission at all — no accounts, no servers, no tracking. All analysis runs locally using Apple's Vision, Core ML, and (on supported devices) Apple Intelligence. Your photos never leave your phone. See the Privacy Policy.
Can I undo a delete? What's the Recovery Bin?▼
Yes. Sift never deletes anything for good on its own. Whatever you clear becomes a soft delete, held in the Recovery Bin for 30 days with full restore. Contact merges are previewed first and written to a reversible journal.
Why does it ask for Photos and Contacts access?▼
To sort them, Sift needs to read them. Limited Photos access is fully supported — you can grant only selected photos. To change access later, go to iOS Settings → Sift.
Some smart features say they need Apple Intelligence — why?▼
Context labelling, cluster naming, and natural-language rules use Apple Intelligence Foundation Models, available on iPhone 15 Pro and newer. On older supported devices, Sift still finds duplicates, blurry shots, and screenshots and lets you triage manually — the smart layer is just clearly labeled.
Is there a subscription?▼
No subscriptions, ever. Sift has a generous free tier and one optional one-time unlock for Auto-pilot and natural-language rules. No ads, no recurring charges, no fake trials. The current price is shown on the in-app purchase screen.
I switched phones — does my unlock come back?▼
Yes. Sign in with the same Apple ID and tap "Restore Purchases" in the app. Your one-time unlock reactivates at no extra cost.
Can I get a refund?▼
Refunds are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com, or via iOS Settings → [your name] → Media & Purchases → Purchase History.
Will Sift merge or delete my contacts automatically?▼
Never without you. This is the genre's worst horror story, and Sift is built to avoid it: every merge previews the result first and is logged so it can be undone. Low-confidence matches are surfaced for review, not acted on.
Does Sift support dark mode?▼
Yes — Sift follows your iOS appearance setting automatically, and the interface is built on iOS 26 Liquid Glass.
Which devices are supported?▼
iPhone on iOS 26+. Core triage works on all supported devices; the Apple Intelligence smart layer requires iPhone 15 Pro or newer. iPad and Mac are on the roadmap.
