The short version: Sidra collects nothing. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, and no tracking. The app does not connect to the internet to function. Everything you read and write stays on your device.
What we collect
Nothing. Sidra has no servers and makes no network requests in normal use. We do not collect, transmit, store, or sell any personal information. We could not identify you if we wanted to — there is no account to identify.
What stays on your device
Sidra works entirely offline. The following live only in the app's private storage on your iPhone and never leave it:
- Your reflections (Returns). Anything you write in answer to a day's question is saved locally so you can revisit your journal. It is never uploaded.
- Your progress. Which day of a cycle you're on, your streak, and which contemplations you've completed.
- Your settings. Reading language, active cycle, and your daily reminder time.
This data is removed when you delete the app. There is no cloud copy because there is no cloud.
The content itself
All contemplations, cycles, and the Qur'an verse database are bundled inside the app at install time. Sidra does not download content, check for updates over the network, or phone home. What you install is what you have.
Notifications
If you turn on the optional daily reminder, Sidra schedules a single local notification on your device using iOS. This is handled entirely by the operating system on-device. No reminder data is sent anywhere, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.
Permissions
Sidra requests no location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone, no camera. The only optional permission is notifications, used solely for the daily reminder above. Decline it and the rest of the app works exactly the same.
Tracking & advertising
There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no third-party trackers, and no ads. Sidra does not participate in Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework because it has nothing to track.
Payments
Sidra is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see your name, email, card, or any payment detail — Apple processes everything. We receive only anonymous, aggregate sales figures from Apple, which contain no personal information.
Children
Sidra is suitable for all ages and, since it collects no data, complies with children's privacy regulations by design. We knowingly collect no information from anyone, regardless of age.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Since the app is offline and collects nothing, any change would be a clarification rather than a new data practice.
